How do I apply for assistance?

Complete the application available on our website. Please fill the application out thoroughly and include a signature from your social worker or nurse navigator at your oncologist’s office before submitting.

What are the requirements to apply?

A complete application packet is required before review can begin. This includes all requested documentation and a signature from your nurse navigator or social worker. Submitting a complete packet helps us process your request as quickly as possible.

How long does it take for a decision for a request for assistance to be made?

Once a complete application is received, it may take up to 45 days for review and processing. In certain urgent situations, expedited support may be considered.

Will assistance be provided in cash?

Assistance is provided by check or debit card directly to the service provider or mortgage company. We are unable to provide assistance through cash payment to the applicant.

What type of assistance do you provide?

We provide financial support for everyday living expenses such as rent or mortgage payments, utilities, food, and transportation. At this time, we are unable to assist with medical bills.

Will my application be processed if I am missing requested documents?

Unfortunately, we require complete packets to be submitted before assessment begins. Ensure your application packet is complete before submitting so that a decision can be made quickly.

Is a signature from my nurse navigator or social worker required?

Yes, a signature from your nurse navigator or social worker is required.

How can I contribute to this cause?

You can write a check made out to Daniel’s Grace Charitable Foundation and mail it to 4216 Virginia Beach Blvd., Suite 140 Virginia Beach, VA 23452 B. Click the donate button on the home page and follow instructions. C. Attend our fundraising events!

Can I designate where my money will be used?

Yes. Please select where you would like for your money to be used by using the donate button on the home page. You will be asked if you would like to earmark your money for a specific cause.

Are all funds used locally?

Yes, funds are used to support residents of Virginia. Additionally, our bylaws support the use of funds in North Carolina and Mississippi to support families battling cancer. We are also working to establish chapters in other states; each chapter will fund their state’s needs.

Should I follow-up with a telephone call once I have submitted my application?

You do not need to initiate a follow-up telephone call regarding your application. A representative of our foundation will make contact with you to further discuss your application if needed. However, if you have specific questions regarding the application process, please email Helpinghands@danielsgrace.org.

Who qualifies to submit an application for our college scholarship program?

Any student who will be graduating from high school or attending college who has a cancer diagnosis or whose immediate family member(s) has been diagnosed with cancer qualifies to apply for our college scholarship program.
